In more realistic reasons to buy a Wii U right now, there are four exclusives that are yet to be ported, slash, will probably never be ported over if they haven’t been already: Pushmo World (which is basically just More Pushmo), NES Remix 1+2, the unfairly derided Star Fox Zero, and the jewel of the bunch, Xenoblade Chronicles X. Now, granted, it’s unlikely that you would refuse to buy a Switch because it costs what it does but would buy a Wii U and then spend money on much harder to find physical copies of games, or non-discounted digital versions of those same games, when you could spend the same or maybe even less on enhanced games with additional modes and content on the Switch instead, but still. Of the top 101, 12 of them originated on the Wii U, and nine of those have been ported to the Switch: If you don’t have a Switch, and don’t plan on getting one because it’s too expensive, or you hate the idea of dealing with the Joy Cons, or you can just never find one on a shelf, whatever, then the Wii U is full of some pretty obvious treasures for you. Even though Nintendo has ported most of the Wii U’s exclusives to the Switch, they didn’t get all of the worthwhile ones for one reason or another, and the existence of the Virtual Console on its eShop means it has more to offer beyond just a handful of physical titles, too. So, with that in mind, here is that guide. Now that Nintendo is in the very early stages of making the Wii U’s eShop less accessible and then, inevitably, completely inaccessible, though - they’re removing credit card support for both the Wii U and 3DS in Japan as of January 2022 - it seems like this is a thing I should probably do, before you cannot use a Wii U for any of the things it still can do, even years after it was replaced by the Switch as Nintendo’s primary console. I’ve been mulling over the idea of writing a guide to owning a Wii U in the year 2021 for a while now, mostly thanks to how prominent it showed itself to be, as a (or the) point of access, to a significant portion of the top 101 Nintendo games.

Refrigerators come in two depths: standard and counter-depth. As such, a two-person household would likely be fine with a 12 to 15-cubic-foot fridge, while a four-person family should look for an appliance larger than 20 cubic feet. It can be a little hard to conceptualize, but the general rule of thumb is to allot four to six cubic feet of space per person in the household, plus a little extra. The capacity of a refrigerator, or how much food it can hold, is typically measured in cubic feet. They do require more door clearance, though. It contains over hundred sketchbook pages of early ideas, unused concepts, game assets, paper model plans, game design ideas and many more sketches collected over 7 years of the game development. The short clip showed Pape escaping from his flower-petal-shaped prison and traveling alongside Tura. The video offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the creation of Papetura, featuring some of the game’s most detailed paper structures. Petums released a new trailer to celebrate launch day. Papetura features no dialogue, so players will have to follow the animations to unfold the story. Players solve a series of puzzles to progress through the story. And yet on those rare occasions that there is a conversation, it's surprisingly easy to follow. When you meet other paper creatures, Pape communicates in a kind of sign language that is supported exclusively by sounds and music. The narrative also unfolds through the use of sounds in the game, while the story develops in the impressive background music. The paper world you lead him through meanwhile means you are constantly looking at ever-more complex structures and fascinating lighting effects. You control a small paper character named Pape, who has to find his way through the game scenes, solve several puzzles and escape fire-breathing monsters. It's all quite artfully done and also unique in this highly digitised era. The game world was created entirely out of footage of paper constructions. How do you get to Chautauqua and the Flatirons?Ĭhautauqua Park is located in southwest Boulder, about 1 mile southwest of the University of Colorado Boulder. These five main flatirons stretch from north to south along the eastern slope of Green Mountain, and are sometimes called “Chautauqua Slabs”.Ĭhautauqua Park refers to the valley around and below the Flatirons and allows for lots of rock climbing, hiking and biking to be done in the area. This led to the restoration of the grounds and buildings making up the Chautauqua.īy subscribing, I consent to receiving emails. Then, the Colorado Chautauqua Auditorium was designated a National Historic Place in 1974. Exploring the Colorado Chautauqua todayĬhautauqua Park is a 26-acre area owned by the City of Boulder and leased to the Colorado Chautauqua Association. Some permanent Chautauqua buildings remain to this day, including the Colorado Chautauqua. Some Chautauquas were part of a traveling circuit Chautauqua, while others were permanent fixtures in their communities, like the one the Texans built in Boulder.Īs education became more widely available to Americans after the turn of the century, Chautauquas became less popular, and the Movement ultimately died out during the Great Depression. The success of the Chautauqua Institution sparked a movement that spread across the country. This program allowed working- and middle-class Americans to learn about a variety of subjects. He created the Chautauqua Institution, which grew to include a correspondence course, the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle. Vincent recognized that many working-class and rural Americans lacked access to formal education, leaving many adults largely ignorant later in life. In the late 1800s, a Methodist minister named John Heyl Vincent formed an organization along the banks of Chautauqua Lake called the Chautauqua Institution. The summer school was built as a partnership between the Texas Board of Regents, a railroad company, and the city of Boulder - all on the back of the Chautauqua Movement. The Texans were quite taken with the beautiful mountain setting beside the Flatirons (we can relate to that feeling!).Įven back then, Boulder had a reputation for being a healthy city. (Have you ever wondered why so many Texans live in or visit Colorado, this is a contributing factor!) They set their sights on Colorado and began searching for a location.īoulder city leaders offered land, facilities, and public utilities in an effort to entice the Texans to build there. In the late 1890s, the Texas Board of Regents was looking for a cooler climate where they could establish a summer school for teachers. The hike is easy to follow and straightforward. This way is much nicer than following the power lines. If you stay to the left and follow the fence, your return trip will take you trough a very pleasant pine forest back to the trailhead. Once you reach the fence, with the view of the Flatirons, you have two choices, you can continue down the hill and hook up with the Doudy Draw trail, or you can continue the Flatirons Vista loop, which is described here. The first part of the hike can get monotonous, follow a dirt road and the power lines straight back to the Flatirons Vista. The trail is mostly flat and I suggest hiking the loop counter-clockwise, this gives you a nicer return trip. The Flatirons Vista trail does not lie.it gives you a great view of the Flatirons. From Denver, head west on I-70 to 58, west on 58 to 93, north on 93 to the Trailhead. The trailhead will be on the right (west).
